Firefighters visit

Today we had a visit from Jon Sweet - the Education officer from Dorset Fire and Rescue service.
He explained how we must make sure our homes have smoke alarms and we have an exit plan in the event of a fire.
We learnt the sequence of events if there is a fire in our home.
  1. Smoke alarm goes off.
  2. Shout "FIRE"
  3. Get out, stay out...Don't go back for your toys!
  4. Phone 999, say your address and what has happened.
If a fire reaches you you must STOP, DROP and ROLL!

We learnt how firefighters prepare themselves to fight fires safely and we had a go at getting the uniforms on in less than 1 minute.

Then the fire engine arrived!

Thank you firefighters for visiting us and for all the good work you do!
