This week we visited Streetwise. This is a wonderful resource that teaches us how to stay safe in our daily lives. The centre is divided up into areas .e.g.the home, the garden, the road, the beach, the park.
In each place there are dangers to spot and safety messages to learn.
We were taught
How to call the emergency services;
How to cross the road safely.
ALWAYS wear a helmet when riding a bike!
Thank you Streetwise. We won't forget!

The final message was
Never go with strangers
however convincing they seem to be!!!

Arts Week
This week we will be looking at the work of the artist Mary Fleeson who specialises in an original style of inspirational calligraphy, illumination and writing.
Mary was born in 1969 and grew up in a small market town in Shropshire, she has lived on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne since 1997.
Mary studied Foundation Art at Stafford College, specialising in textiles, and then gained an honours degree in Three-Dimensional Design from the University of Central England in Birmingham in 1992.
In 1999, with her husband Mark, she founded Lindisfarne Scriptorium which showcases her original style of inspirational calligraphy, illumination and writing. Here is some of her work.
We will be learning about how manuscripts were created before printing was invented and we will design our own illuminated letters and inspirational texts.
